From you to me and back again.

All I did as a girl was write.

I made up stories about magic vegetables and shipwrecks and secret worlds and wrote them in little books my mum made from old wallpaper. My head was full of magic then. I could see it everywhere. In stones and trees, in tiny things on the floor. I always had a feeling that something ordinary might suddenly open into something else.

All I wanted was to be a writer of some kind. I did not know exactly what that meant, only that I wanted to make something from the things I could see and feel.

Those stories still come to me sometimes, usually when I am out walking the dog. I will spot an acorn on the ground and, before I know it, there is a whole small world around it.

I do not always go home and write those stories now. When I get home from a dog walk, there is a whole day to do. But I still chase the magic. The kind that arrives as a little shiver maybe from a coincidence or a line in a book that says exactly what you needed to read at that moment.

That is the feeling I follow.

I think I have found my way back to being a writer of stories, just not in the way I expected.

Now the story begins with you. At the moment you arrived and in the sky above you when you took your first breath.

I take those details and cast your chart, then I sit with it. I look at the signs, houses and planets. I can see all the threads of you story.

And then I write.

It’s a genre of its own. Not quite a memoir, not quite a choose your own adventure book. But still a story. A story about your gifts, your, your voice and the parts of you still there waiting to grow. A story about the things you may have always sensed but never quite had words for.

That is what Stars+Soil is really.

It is a way of writing stories again, only this time the story comes from you. You are the hero of your story.

I write it and then it goes back to you as a book you can hold. A book that says here you are, with all your magic and gifts.

From you to me and back again.
